Welcome to Season 77 of the Dominion League!

Moderator Turnover

This season we say goodbye to AJL828 and swaggner. AJL828 has served as a moderator for 28 seasons while swaggner is departing after 4 seasons. Both have been valuable division moderators over this time; we thank them for their contributions and look forward to seeing them playing in the league soon.

Their departure has left us short of an ideal number of moderators at the league’s current size, and so we are hoping to add moderators for season 78. Timer Update

The League timer played with in Season 76 did not meet our goals - we believe that it did not provide enough time in situations where a large number of complex decisions are being made, and conversely provides too much time in many cases where there are few decisions. As such, we do not feel that we are ready to enforce a timer as an alternative to the Adjusted Excess Time system for next season.

Season 77 will be played with a differently parametered League timer on an experimental basis, so there are no consequences for running out of time. This timer is adaptive to the number of decisions a player has made recently - you will receive more time back when your preceding turns have had a larger number of decisions and less time back when they have had a smaller number of decisions. There are also some minor tweaks of other parameters that we will provide a full desscription of early in the season.

Our expectation is that we will begin enforcement of this timer, or with small parameter adjustments based on our observations this season, starting in Season 78. We will provide more information on rules surrounding enforcement in the break between seasons.

Longer Break Upcoming

The break between seasons 77 and 78 will be extended to 4 weeks to accommodate the playing of the early rounds of the Dominion Online Championship, in which we expect that many League players will participate. We will provide more information on this tournament when it becomes available, so be on the look out for a notification during this season.
