Scheduling

Both our feedback form poll and town hall last season focused on scheduling, particularly across time zones. While generally people seemed satisfied with the status quo, there are three suggestions arising from that discussion we would like to make:

• Communication of times across time zones can be difficult. Avoid using terms like “morning” and “evening” and instead give ranges of times with the time zone you are using for them. Even better, use the same time zone for all scheduling in your division - for those divisions comprising only American players we suggest using Eastern time while for others we suggest UTC
• Identify who in your division will be the most difficult for you to schedule with and try to figure out when you will play early in the season. This could be someone who is far away in time zone or someone who posts availability in their check-in message that does not align with yours. Often you will need to schedule ahead with those players, so leaving those matches to the last weekend does not work.
• Be attentive to what is happening in your division channel. If you have not done so, download the Discord mobile app. This way, you should get notifications when people are trying to reach you; be sure to @ either the division role or individual players so they get those notifications too.

Note that Daylight Savings time starts in North America on March 9th - your UTC offset will change then. In Europe the spring clock change does not happen until after the end of the season, so the difference between American and European time zones will be one hour narrower than usual in the later part of the season.

Breaks Rules Changes

In an effort to improve division balance, all players who are returning from a break will have their previous position in league taken into consideration. While places will not be guaranteed any longer than they are currently and players will not be able to return to the tier they left indefinitely, no longer should there be players who have proven themselves in upper tiers returning to the lower ones.
